Media Literacy Workshop Set For Nov. 18

Diana Hadley

It was great to host almost 400 students and advisers representing 32 schools at this year’s IHSPA convention. We continue to welcome feedback about the convention and other IHSPA events throughout the year.

Our next big idea project is a workshop at Southport High School, Thursday, November 18. Workshop leaders will highlight the Common Core State Standards and help teachers incorporate media literacy into composition and literature classes.

We are relying on IHSPA members to help us find the special English teachers who might be interested in this free workshop also sponsored by the High School Journalism Institute at Indiana University and the Indiana Department of Education.

(If this workshop is successful, others will be planned in other regions of the state.)

Teachers who participate can earn Professional Growth Points from the Department of Education for the workshop and subsequent individual projects.
